Reading, reading, reading!

We are now well underway with our literacy program  in first grade. 

In Swedish students will be participating in small reading groups, and a program called write to read with Bella.
In English students will be experiencing something known as a balanced literacy program, combining whole language and phonics methods. 
I have been very impressed with the return of the reading folders and the program so far has been running very smoothly.

Students are encouraged to return books and folders themselves in the right place to learn responsibility. 

Each week the students have English reading at home they will bring one guided reading book (from their lesson) and one book they have chosen from the browsing box library.

This week we have scholastic bookclub coming out!

Students who are the oldest in the family will be bringing one of these home in their reading folder this week.
